Joey Graceffa had quite the night when his golden retriever, Monty, went into labor and eventually welcomed 11 puppies into the world!

Check out this gorgeous video he shared.

Monty Was Ready to Give Birth

Before the puppies arrived, Joey noticed Monty showing clear signs that labor was approaching.

Her temperature had dropped below 100 degrees, and she had started nesting and becoming increasingly restless.

Joey tried to encourage her into the whelping box, but Monty was much happier staying in her favorite bed.

Joey had also prepared colored collars so he could tell the puppies apart after they were born.

With so many golden retriever puppies expected, the collars would help him track each puppy's weight and progress.

One Puppy Quickly Became Eleven

The first puppy arrived the following morning, and Joey was there to help Monty through the delivery.

He was clearly emotional as he watched her become a mom for the first time, carefully helping when needed while allowing her natural instincts to take over.

Then came puppy number two, followed by number three and four. The puppies arrived surprisingly quickly, with numbers four and five coming almost back-to-back.

By the time Monty reached eight puppies, she was understandably exhausted.

Joey made sure the newborns were warm and getting enough milk, separating some of them when necessary so each puppy had a chance to nurse.

The Birth Wasn't Over Yet

After reaching nine puppies, Joey thought Monty was finally finished. But she surprised everyone by delivering another puppy, and then another.

One of the final puppies was born not breathing, but Joey and Daniel worked hard to revive the it, eventually hearing it cry.

Finally, puppy number 11 arrived, bringing the incredible litter to a close!
