Barkhouse, an elevated dog daycare concept in Chelsea, Manhattan, is hosting Dog Fashion Week, a five-day celebration devoted entirely to canine style, running September 8 through 12.

According to Barkhouse, the week gathers four top dog fashion brands for a series of onsite activations, building toward a runway finale unlike anything New York's dog community has seen before.

Meaning that for pet parents who dress their furry family members with the same care they give their own wardrobes, it is a rare chance to see high fashion built entirely around dogs. Okay, can we agree it's time to pull out those slingbacks, those wing-tips, and that blinged-out dog collar and head on over to check things out? Yes!!

Founded by Jeffrey Carlson and Gabriella Desposito-Carlson, Barkhouse has worked hard to raise the bar in dog hospitality, pairing exceptional care with an influential nod toward high-fashion design for both dogs and their people. In fact, the concept opened just nine months ago and has already become a gathering place for Chelsea's dog parents who believe that dogs deserve the same thoughtfulness and hospitality their owners expect for themselves. With more than 700 users, this growing community has easily become the new heartbeat of the business. And with this month's Dog Fashion Week being the cherry on top, things are just heating up.

Here's how it works. Each day leading up to the finale, Barkhouse will host a pop-up from a leading dog fashion label, giving members an exclusive look at the brands' pieces alongside some fun, interactive activities. The lineup includes Little Beast, By Teddy, Pawelier, and 1ER — four labels who are reportedly shaping the growing world of designer dog apparel. Members and their pups get to be hands-on with each of the brands - I think this means trying stuff on - rather than just browsing through racks of mini shirts and jackets. An approach that Barkhouse feels reflects their community-first identity.

Building on the frenzy that is New York Fashion Week, the event closes with the all-important Dogwalk Fashion Show, presented by Fetch Pet Insurance and Maev. Barkhouse's 50-foot runway will be transformed into a lush, green garden designed by NYC-based set designer Theresa Rivera, turning the space into a showcase worthy of the city's most famous fashion moment.

The runway will feature dog-and-human pairs walking in looks styled by viral vintage dealer Gianna Corvino, founder of The NY Archive. Pairing dogs with their people on the same runway underscores the event's central idea: that modern dog parenthood deserves its own cultural spotlight.

To be sure, New York Fashion Week is an iconic moment for the Big Apple. And according to Gabriella Desposito-Carlson, co-founder of Barkhouse. "We wanted to bring that same energy to the dog community, as a celebration of modern dog parenthood."

Since opening its doors, the Chelsea business has leaned into the idea that dogs and their owners belong in the same conversation when it comes to style, care, and community — and the September event puts that philosophy on full display. Between the daily pop-ups and the garden-set runway finale, Barkhouse is betting that the city's dog community is ready for a fashion week to call its own.
