Apollo lives in Ocala, Florida, and went missing after a woman saw him in front of a neighbor’s house. The woman asked the neighbors if Apollo was their dog, and when they said no, she drove off with him, according to surveillance footage.

Months later, Apollo was found wandering the streets of New York, and was taken to a shelter in Hempstead, Long Island. There, his microchip was scanned, revealing the information needed to reunite him with his family. If the woman who picked up Apollo had scanned him right away, it would’ve brought him home immediately, without all of the stress of the last few months.

A Microchip Scan and a Flight Home

After receiving an email from the microchip company, Vera Josey called the shelter and found out her dog was all the way in New York. The fact that Apollo was found all alone on the streets is strange enough, but what’s even stranger is that he was wearing a tag with the name Yuri.

In addition to the good news that he was found, Apollo’s owners also stated their dog is healthy, though he seems to have lost a few pounds.

Nick Josey flew to New York to get his precious pooch and they flew back home to Florida together. Now, Apollo is safe and sound, and he’s happy to be back with the people who love him most.

No charges have been filed against the woman who took Apollo, and his family still has a lot of questions, including who took the dog and how he ended up in New York. Ultimately, though, they’re just glad that he was found and they were able to bring him home safely.
