PawSwing: Hands Free Grooming Experience Your Cat Will Actually Love

As someone who lives with six cats, pet hair is a daily reality. Skipping even a day of vacuuming means finding tufts in every corner, and lint-rolling myself is practically a ritual before I leave the house. That’s why I was eager – but skeptical – to try the PawSwing: an automatic self-groomer that promises to handle pet hair without fuss. A grooming gadget that works, looks cute, and that cats actually enjoy using? Sign me up!
How Does It Work?
The concept is simple. PawSwing is an automatic self groomer for cats which provides a 360° combing experience – no electricity required. It is equipped with innovative bionic tongue brushes (which are essentially brushes with short soft bristles that mimic the hook shape of cat’s tongue surface) that are situated on the grooming disc, aka the entrance to a felt box. The disc can be adjusted to suit different body types, so both petite kitties and chonky cuties can get the best grooming experience.
But how does one entice a cat, especially a more timid one, to get into the box to be groomed? Tasty treats do the trick for most, which is why PawSwing has an integrated treat dispenser which can be fully customized to accommodate individual feeding schedules and portion sizes.
Setting it Up
Straight out of the box, PawSwing is super easy to put together – I managed setting it up in under half an hour even with my overly eager toddler and nosy senior poodle trying to sabotage me every step of the way. The instructions are pretty clear with pictures to guide you to the process so even if you’re not too handy, you’ll have no issue assembling this cat groomer. In addition to being easy to piece together, the quality of the build was another nice surprise, as the felt sides are both elegant looking and sturdy, and the plastic bits are made from heavy-duty matte plastic that seems quite durable.
Before actually setting the PawSwing groomer up, I was worried about my cats not wanting to get inside it or that one of my cats which has obesity issues won’t be able to safely use it, but both of these concerns turned out to be unfounded. The entrance to the grooming box is fully customizable, and it is recommended to start out at the widest setting before reducing the entrance size over the course of 7 to 12 days. This way, not only do your cats have the time to grow accustomed to using the PawSwing, but you can also make sure that the opening isn’t too tight for your cat as you’ll be gradually adjusting it until the fit is perfect.
First Thoughts
Surprisingly, even the most timid of my cats entered the PawSwing in the first hour it was set up. I blame the fact that it’s literally raining treats inside the felt box (I was generous the first day as I wanted them to be enticed to use it) so it was definitely hard to resist.
Another unexpected thing was that even at the widest setting, the combs managed to pick up some hair. Sure, my kitties are not the slimmest – I do pay attention, but they are all seniors and indoor only cats – but still, I was impressed by the effectiveness of the brushes as the day passed and the grooming disc was adjusted to smaller and smaller sizes. To boot, hair is conveniently stored inside the combs (there’s storage space) so you could collect it for felting! I am an avid crafter but I haven’t felted pet hair yet and I have to admit, PawSwing has inspired me to try my hand at it.

Who is it Best For?
So does it work well? I guess it depends on what your expectations are and your cat’s coat type. All of my cats are short haired so I can’t speak for long-haired cats, but the brushes did a great job at picking up dead fur without my cats actually realizing it. Lured by the promise of food, they’d get a light grooming session in the process, so I didn’t have to brush them every other day as usual. After a week of only using PawSwing, the brushing session was much shorter and I was pleasantly surprised to realize that most of the dead hair was gone thanks to the bionic brushes and not my handiwork.
Of course, if your cat sheds a lot, PawSwing won’t be able to be your only grooming tool – you’ll still need to groom manually every couple of weeks to ensure all the dead hair is removed. Unless your kitty is going in and out all the time hoping to snack on some treats, PawSwing should be treated as a complementary tool in your feline friend’s grooming routine. It will help cut down the frequency of your grooming sessions and help maintain a sleek shiny coat without much hassle, but it won’t fully replace regular brushing.
Conclusion
With all that in mind, I’d still recommend PawSwing if it’s in your budget – it can make a great Christmas gift for yourself or another cat parent. Not only that it can help minimize your chores and get you some extra free time, but it also looks great, unlike most pet gadgets. With neutral gray and white tones and quality felt build, it complements interior decor rather than sticking out like a sore thumb in your living room.
